La fascination du flux

La sculpture évoque l’évolution récente de notre rapport au Temps et à l’Image (Reflet temporel). Cette perception a beaucoup évolué depuis la révolution du numérique et se cristallise aujourd’hui dans le phénomène très actuel du « flux ».

Le flux évoque aujourd’hui le mouvement ininterrompu des datas, l’information sans limite et le besoin d’immédiateté, mais aussi la migration des peuples, les déchaînements naturels, résultants du réchauffement climatique. Notre relation au Temps a pris un nouveau virage très récemment avec ces phénomènes d’accélération et de dérèglements des environnements artificiels et naturels.

L’Image – numérique – est devenue la référence première des moyens de communication des nouvelles générations. La fascination hypnotique que le flux de l’information opère sur nous, dans notre façon de devenir témoins, complice ou aveugle, est préoccupante. Nous assistons voyeur par avidité ou addiction, aux cataclysmes, aux violences, aux flux de clichés, où la beauté de l’Image anéantie progressivement tout recul et compréhension de ce à quoi on assiste.

Si le monde virtuel nous offre une conscience élargie dans beaucoup de domaines, il déstabilise à présent des repères de valeurs, de hiérarchie et de vérité. Il change profondément notre rapport au temps, à l’information, à l’espace et aux autres. Que faisons-nous de cette nouvelle dépendance ?

Flow fascination

The sculpture evokes the evolution of our relationship to Time and Image («Temporal Reflection»). This perception has evolved a lot since the digital revolution and crystallizes today in the very current phenomenon of «flow».

The flow today evokes the uninterrupted movement of datas, unlimited information and the need for immediacy, but also the migration of peoples, the natural deregulation, resulting from global warming. Our relationship to Time has taken a new turn very recently with these phenomena of acceleration and disruption of artificial and natural environments.

Digital Image has become the first reference for the communication media of the new generations. The hypnotic fascination that the flow of information operates on us, in our way of becoming witnesses, accomplice or blind, is worrying. We watch with avidity or addiction : cataclysms, violence, flow of clichés …where the beauty of the Image gradually wipes out any distance and understanding of what we are looking at.

If the virtual world offers us a broader awareness in many areas, it now destabilizes benchmarks of values, hierarchy and truth. It profoundly changes our relationship to time, information, space and others.
